You Can’t Go Home Again….Or, Can You? Photos 15-19

I walked the stretch of McDonald Avenue from Elmwood Avenue to Avenue J. These photos are where the old Ave I Flea Market and Bowling Alley used to be and also of Weisman – which seems like it’s closing (so I took a shot) and Patricia’s old doorway where some of us would have out at night. These were suggested by Christine.

The Brooklyn Country Fair at The Yard

It was such a beautiful day that I felt the need for some outdoor activity. So, I headed over to The Yard in Gowanus to check out The Brooklyn Country Fair. There were lots of people, hand-made goods, produce, food, drink and music.

Gallery: Fort Useless 8/23/09

My friend Jeremiah (Stereoactive) and several of his friends have started a new event space that they are currently calling Fort Useless. They opened yesterday and I stopped by for awhile. I saw performances by, Jared Friedman (of Holy Moly), Sharon Van Etten, El Jezel, Manny Nomikos (of Coyote Eyes) and Kristie Redfield. They plan on having more music, some art exhibits and stand up comedy along with whatever other ideas they can come up with.

Gallery: Elon 8/15/09

Elon and I had a loooong photo shoot on Saturday 🙂

We started in the Financial district, made our way to Bed Sty and ended in Crown Heights. The photo above was our last part of the shoot. It was particularly pleasant because I was able to sit on the bench across from him. Ah, comfort.

I owe a debt of gratitude to Elon because without his prodding I never would have ventured into the world of promotional photography. Thanks, buddy!

Bobby’s Birthday Party

Stopped into my friend, Bobby’s, birthday party last night. I took two photos of him (both VERY blurry – sorry Bobby). Luckily he told me to go take photos of the band and people dancing because those are more crisp (thanks!).

You Can’t Go Home Again…Or, Can You Photo 14

zHomeAgain 013

This is the entrance to the basement of Saint Rose of Lima church. It’s also the entrance way that we used to get to the rehearsal space for choir on Sunday mornings. Yep, we had choir practice in the basement, in a room right off of the oil burner. I shot this for Tommy – he didn’t ask me too, in fact, he didn’t send me a request…. However, since he’s the only person (other than my cousin) that was in choir with me – I figured it was appropriate for this project.

You Can’t Go Home Again…Or, Can You? Photos 8-13

Photos of my old grammar school, Saint Rose of Lima, on Parkville Avenue. The school is no longer open. These photos are from Lorraine – because she wasn’t sure if the building was still there and couldn’t really decide where to send me for this project. Actually, I’m really happy to have walked over and photograph the building. It should be a part of this project 🙂
