Laughing Liberally

MothUP at Fort Useless 3.10.11

This was a new event for Fort Useless, MothUP will be monthly storytelling event. Each story is about 5 minutes long, true and told in the first person. This installments theme was luck. These guys did really well and their stories were captivating, at times funny and touching. I’m looking forward to next month.

Bar Mitzvah

On Friday night, I attended my first Bar Mitzvah at Temple Emanuel. It’s always an interesting moment when you witness someone’s first steps toward adulthood – even when you barely know the young person. I shot the ceremony and the reception. Here are a few highlights.

We celebrated Mardi Gras on Saturday night at Fort Useless with gumbo, king cake, beads, masks and music. There were performances by The Fort Useless Mardi Gras Combo, Mama Bear, Marie Stella (who rolled into town from Portland, ME for the occasion), Flying Pace and Quiet Loudly.
